Summary
Painted and gilt-painted leather wallcovering. Gilt leather of Dutch or Flemish origin c.1710-1750, in the French style after Daniel Marot. Hand-painted. Panels of leather affixed to walls within wood framework. 3 different designs of various sizes. a. 2 peacocks either side of red and gilt design with black diamond in centre. 'Peacock panel'
Provenance
Part of the Bedingfeld Collection. The house was given to the National Trust in 1952 by Sybil, Lady Bedingfeld (1883-1985), her daughter Mrs Greathead, and her niece Violet Hartcup.
