Summary
Acrylic painting on canvas, After the Hurricane, Nymans, West Sussex, by Cherryl Fountain (b.1950), inscribed on the back 'CF' in monogram, 'Nymans' and '1988'. Painting of fallen trees with statue in foreground and Nymans ruins in background, in a wooden frame. This shows part of the garden ay Nymans after the Great Storm of October 1987. The artist's viewpoint is from the south-east, just off the lawn. The figute of 'The Poacher' presides, if unsteadily, over the scene of devastation (it subsequently went into conservation).
