Summary
A carved walnut 'Bambocci' cabinet or 'Stipo a Bambocci', North Italian, Genoa, circa 1630. Displaying a variety of cherubs, figures and pipe-playing satyrs, with two upper frieze drawers above an arrangement of three small drawers and three cupboards, each door with figures standing in niches and concealing the locks, further drawers within the cupboards including secret drawers, above two more drawers appearing as three, all originally enclosed by a fall-front (now lost), standing on a projecting plinth, probably originally with a stand or cupboard base, the drawers lined with blue paper, the drawer-handles modelled as cows heads.
