Summary
One of three pairs of red damask curtains with matching braided and fringed pelmets. Likely to have been manufactured by Lenygon and Morant c.1920, based on designs originally by Daniel Marot.
Provenance
Amongst a small number of items purchased by the Ministry of Works from the 1958 auction of the contents of Beningbrough Hall for transfer to the National Trust along with the house (accepted in lieu). See lot 575, "blue ground figured damask curtains, lined and interlined and the braided and fringed pelmets" (Lady Chesterfield's Bedroom and Dressing Room).
