Provenance
Purchased by the Ministry of Works from the sale of contents of Beningbrough Hall in 1958 following the death of LadyChesterfield (lot 440) for £70 and transferred along with the hall to the National Trust. See "Schedule of objects given to the National Trust for preservation at Beningbrough Hall". Possibly previously part of contents of Holme Lacy, the inherited Scudamore house sold by the Earl of Chesterfield in 1910.
