Summary
A pair of child's breeches, in early 18th century style, part of child's fancy dress costume, c1900 London. In mid pink cotton, warp cut pile velvet (as coat). Raised at the back of the waist with adjucting tape and 6 metal buttons. Front fall opening with 5 metal buttons/. 2 pockets with metal buttons to open. 4 buttons covered in cream satin and diamonte buckles at the knee. Lined throughout with bleached cotton (twill weave brushed), with facings of beige cotton (twill weave) and pocket lined with beached cotton (plain weave). Possibly worn by Viscount Clive, Percy Robert Herbert (1892-1916) Made by a professional Court Costumier. c1900.
