Summary
Alcove ceiling painting on plaster depicting the goddess Pax (Peace) wearing a laurel wreath and holding a torch and cadus with armour at her feet. She is surrounded by putti and cherubs bringing olive fronds and laurel crowns. The cherub at her feet holds a tambourine.
Provenance
Painted by Gerard Lanscroon in 1705 for William Herbert, 2nd Marquess of Powis. Part of the original bequest of the property in 1952.
