Summary
Oil on canvas laid down on plaster, Apotheosis of the Virgin and Saint Joseph, adapted from a print after Simon Vouet (Paris 1590 – Paris 1649), circa 1660. Four figures, each accompanied by a winged angel, populate the bottom of the painting. Central is a woman in blue robes representing Mary and a bearded figure representing Saint Joseph. Above in the clouds are cherubs and seraphim and a bearded figure carrying a winged infant.
