Summary
A scabbard covered in red velvet with gilt brass fitting. En-suite with the 18th century Indian dress sword.
Provenance
Possibly Robert Clive's dress sword. It certainly bears a marked resemblance to the sword depicted in a portrait of Clive at Powis Castle. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
