Gaius Julius Caesar (100 or 102 BC – 44 BC)
Carrara marble sculpture, Bust of Julius Caesar. One of a set of stone portrait busts of the twelve Caesars with inset Carrara marble heads and applied scagliola drapery. Previous location - Stone Corridor, moved during 2007/2008 project.
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership in 1992. Brought to Powis Castle from the London House of the Herbert Family in Lincon's Inn Fields in 1704.
