Summary
Sculpture, Putto with an Urn gushing Water and a Dolphin: One of the Four Elements - Water by Peter van den Branden (fl. Heidleberg c.1714 - 1720), circa 1700. One of a set of four marble figures of putti representing the Elements this one representing Water. Female putto holding a fish and pouring water from a vessel. She possibly is in the guise of Salacia, goddess of springs, wife of Neptune or Venus.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax, placed on long term loan to the National Trust, then gifted to National Trust on 26th March 1991.
