Summary
Livery breeches - One of two pairs of breeches to be worn by the Footmen, 1898. Scarlet wool velvet 'plush' with scarlett worsted twill weave piping. Rasied back waist with buttons for braces, fall front opening, 2 pockets, buckles and 3 buttons bearing 'coronet and dragon' at the knee. Lined with undyed bleached cotton (plain weave) with scarlet worsted and black linen facings.

Marked W. Bailey. Purchased by the National Trust from the John George Herbert, 8th Earl of Powis and Powis Estate Trustees in March 2001.
