Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Edward Clive, later 1st Earl of Powis III (1754-1839), after William Hoare RA (Eye 1706 – Bath 1792). A head-and-shoulder portrait within a painted oval, turned to left, wearing a green coat and white stock. A poor derivation in reverse from Hoare's pastel among the Eton leaving-portraits.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963
