Summary
Boulle bracket clock with ormolu mounts, French, c.1730, the case surmounted by a single figure with a broken harp, the case with a female muse flanked by two putti, the fourteen-day mechanism witha two-train, five-pillar English movement with anchor escapement.
Provenance
Recorded in 1944 Inventory as ‘A Louis XIV Boule and ormolu striking bracket clock ormolu figure surmount glazed panels ormolu and enamelled dial and bracket for same 36in high' in Tapestry Drawing Room (Blue Drawing Room). Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
