Summary
Huqqa snake - Part of a collection of huqqa snakes and pipes. A huqqa snake (T.11.2a) covered in black silk, the two ends bound with fine gold thread and woven with gilt foil strips to form open crosses. Ensuite with huqqa pipe POW.CLIVE.T.11.2b in Clive Store; the bamboo stems covered in black silk and decorated with gilt thread, bands of black/gold chevron threads, and with zig-zag pattern and simple flower/leaf motifs formed from gilt foil strips woven in the gilt thread; the bungs covered in black silk. Mughal style, mid 18th century.
