Summary
Huqqa pipe - Part of a collection of huqqa snakes and pipes. A huqqa pipe, the bamboo stems decorated with a diamond pattern formed from opaque white and clear purple beads within gilt foil and gilt thread borders; red silk and silver bands above and below. The bungs bound with black silk, the upper ones have discs below covered in black silk, bound with cream silk and edged with silver foil. Mughal style, mid 18th century. Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
