Summary
Huqqa pipe - Part of a collection of huqqa snakes and pipes. A large pipe of crook from covered in green silk with a woven chevron diaper of gilt foil, and with bands of white beading. A gilt thread is tied to the crook, looped across the pipe and tied near the bung; the bung is bound with black silk. Mughal style, mid 18th century. See 'Treasures from India' catalogue pg.105.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
