Summary
A silver-gilt bowl with cover. Silver and partly gilt bowl with a central gilt lotus motif and the rim with incised decoration. The cover with the centre pierced with a foliate medallion and set with turquoises and foiled glass in red, orange and green. The border and rim gilt, and with chased foliate decoration. Ensuite with other pieces of the same pan set. Stand with glass dome in store. Lucknow, late 18th/early 19th century. See ' Treasures from India' catalogue pg.74.
Provenance
Recorded in 1944 Inventory as ‘A 6½in engraved bowl pierced cover set with gems, an enamelled Indian cutter, 2, 2½in Indian gilt bowls spoons and covers, jewel decorations on stand with glass shade' in Tapestry Drawing Room (Blue Drawing Room). Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
