Summary
One of four circular spice boxes, part of a pan set. The centres of the lids of the spice boxes with foliate silver gilt filigree decoration set with foiled glass in shades of amber and green, and with pierced bands of foliate decoration to the centres of sides. Ensuite with other pan sets in the collection. Lucknow, late 18th/early 19th century.
Provenance
Recorded in 1944 Inventory as ‘A 4½in Indian silver gilt circular enamelled tray dome shaped cover of filigree work set … boxes pierced filigree and covers set precious stones on a stand and glass shade ' in Tapestry Drawing Room (Blue Drawing Room). Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
