Summary
Light green, nephrite jade shallow, round cup, divided into eight lobes, with single handle formed by a scrolling sten emerging at the rim from an acanthus leaf in low relief. On a acarved square stand with rounded corners (stand in Store, the cup displayed on round carved stand). Mughal, mid 18th century. See 'Treasures from India' catalogue pg.122/no.172.
Provenance
Probably collected by Robert Clive (1725-1774). Brought to Powis Castle from Walcot Hall in 1930. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
