Summary
Ivory staff, carved to imitate a branch of wood and with a carved 'strap' 20 cm from the handle. In the style of a European walking stick rather than an Indian staff of office. Probably Mysore, late 18th or early 19th century.
Provenance
Probably collected by Lady Henrietta Clive along with 1180688. 'Two ivory sticks' are listed in the 1802 inventory. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
