Summary
Box; Writing slope - Portable slope desk, rosewood and ivory with silver or tutenag (crude zinc) carrying handles, hinges and escutcheons; the lid decorated with a circular motif of flowering plant with scrolling foliate borders, the edges with similar decoration; a seperate compartment across the back formerly containing the ink wells and pentray. Bottom covered with green baize. E.India (Vizagapatam), c.1725-50.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
