Summary
Bronze sculpture, The Hindu Goddess Lakshmi, Indian (South India - Tamilnadu) School, circa 1800. Large bronze figure of Lakshmi, her forehead mark inlaid with gold; her left hand raised but not holding the usual lotus bud. Standing on a lotus pedestal, with holes for transporting or securing to a processional chariot. Consort to POW.CLIVE.BR.1 and pair with POW.CLIVE.BR.5.
Provenance
Brought to Powis Castle from Walcot Hall in 1930. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963
