Summary
Bronze sculpture, The Hindu God the Child Krishna, shown as Navanitanrittamurti, Indian (South India - Tamilnadu) School, circa 1800. Large bronze figure of the child Krishna (shown as Navanitanrittamurti), holding a stolen ball of butter in his right hand while dancing; with his raised right foot supported by a lotus bud emerging from the lotus base. The plinth beneath has holes for carrying rods or for tying to a festival chariot. See catalogue pg.112.
Provenance
Brought to Powis Castle from Walcot Hall in 1930. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
