Summary
Sword with curved, single-edged steel blade, (shortened and reground); with numerous notches on the cutting edge, and a shallow single fuller along three-quartersd of the blade's length. The hilt of blued steel inlaid with gold floral decoration, disc pommel and cast openwork swivel. Arabic inscription along the blade. Hilt - India, 18th century; Blade - Iran, 17th century.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
