Summary
A 'gurz or garguz' mace of steel, silvered and partly gilt, the head with seven lobbed vanes, the hilt with broad knuckle-guard, circular pommel, curved pommel spike and remains of leather binding on handle. Central or S.India, 18th century.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
