Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, George Edward Henry Arthur Herbert, 2nd Earl of Powis (1755-1801), attributed to William Grimaldi (Shoreditch 1751 – London 1830). Head and shoulders portrait of a man, head turned slightly to the left, gazing to the left, wearing a dark blue coat, white neckcloth and shirt. Large brown eyes, powdered hair, pale face, modelled with blue stipple and short strokes, aged about 45. Heather coloured background. Another version of POW.D.15 is in the Clive Museum.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
