Caption
This is an almost sentimental portrait of Lady Marjorie Manners, aged seventeen who was the daughter of the 8th Duke of Rutland and Lady Violet Lindsay and later became the 6th Marchioness of Anglese.y It is an intimate and innocent portrayal of a young girl on the eve of womanhood, stroking her pug dog. The painting is a replica of another at Belvoir Castle by the American artist, who, along with his compatriot, John Singer Sargent, was a leading society portrait painter in Britain at the time.
