Summary
Oil painting on panel, William Paget, 1st Baron Paget de Beaudesert, KG (1505/6-63), aged 48, Anglo-Netherlandish School, inscribed: 'Anno Domini 1549, Aetatis Svae 48' and later, below: W.Lord Paget. A half-length portrait, facing, his hands in his belt, wearing a black fur-edged coat and black cap wearing the jewel of the Order of the Garter. He has moustache and full forked beard and a ring on left index finger.
Provenance
Previously on loan to the National Trust from the Paget family from 1982 until 2019. Accepted in lieu of Inheritance Tax by H M Government and allocated to the National Trust for Plas Newydd, 2019.
