Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Henrietta Maria Bagot, Countess of Uxbridge (1815-1844) by Edward Harrison May (Croydon 1824 - Paris 1887), circa 1840-45, inscribed across top: HENRIETTA MARIA / COUNTESS OF UXBRIDGE and with a coronet, top right. A half-length portrait, possibly posthumous, of the second wife of Henry, 2nd Marquess of Anglesey (1797 - 1869) whom she had married in 1833, wearing a black dress with frilled collar and rose coloured sleeves.
Provenance
Previously on loan to the National Trust from the Paget family from 1982 to 2019. Accepted in lieu of Inheritance Tax by H M Government and allocated to the National Trust for Plas Newydd, 2019.
