Summary
Lead sculpture, The Farnese Hercules, workshop of John Nost I (Mechelen c.1655 – London 1710), 1720/21. Lead statue of Hercules, the 'Farnese' model. Supplied in 1720 to stand, with a companion figure of Mars, outside the entrance to the Castle. Removed by Eames in 1770 to the woods, restored and set up in present position, 1987. The pedestal dated 1721 is by John Edwards (fl.1719-1722)
