Summary
A single manual oak and walnut harpsichord, by Burkat Shudi (1702-73), made in London in 1742, raised on a later beech stand. The name board inlaid 'Burkat Shudi No. 120 Fecit Londini 1742', the facia board with marquetry inlay of scrolling foliage centred by a scallop shell, the cheek and jack rails inlaid en suite, the five octave keyboard FF-F3 omitting FF sharp with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals, four brass hand stops controlling two 8ft. stops and one 4ft. and a lute, a further hand stop on the left cheek controlling the machine stop in conjunction with a footpedal, on a later beech trestle stand with turned legs.

Provenance
Amongst the chattels that, in 1978, were acquired along with Chirk Castle from Lt-Col Ririd Myddelton (1902–1988) by the National Land Fund and handed, on loan for 99 years, to the Secretary of State for Wales. In 1981 Chirk was transferred into the ownership of the National Trust. On loan to the Trust from Guy Charles Myddelton. Gifted to Guy C. Myddelton from Captain David Myddelton in 2010. Purchased by the National Trust from Mr Guy Myddelton in 2023.
