Summary
The Hatchlands Park archive. Estate papers, legal, business and financial papers, correspondence and personal papers. Hatchlands Park contained documents that are linked to the property's various associations. This includes the Sumner family and Rendel family, both of which owned the property between 1770 and 1944 until it was passed to the National Trust. Surrey History Centre reference numbers: 1468, 1519, 1791 SHC ref 1468: diary and other records of William Philip Quick, Lord Rendel's coachman at Hatchlands, East Clandon, 1897-1899, presented by Mr W F Stubbs, Mr Quick's son-in-law in September 1985. SHC ref 1519: William Brightwell Sumner of Hatchlands, East Clandon: household inventory and bills 1775-1785, purchased from Winnifred Myers, Book Dealer, in April 1982. SHC ref 1791: papers of H S Goodhart-Rendel (1887-1959), architect, of Hatchlands, East Clandon, and records of the Rendel Estate, c.1910-1960, deposited by Miss R Rendel, cousin to H S Goodhart-Rendel, in 1971 and 1975.
