Summary
A walnut chair, one of a pair, English, mid-18th century, the curved top rail above a vase-shaped back splat decorated with two carved scrolls to the lower half, flanked by the shaped uprights, the shaped seat above an incised and curved seat rail, on four cabriole legs, the front two carved to the knees with a shell, scrolls and flower motifs, terminating in claw-and-ball feet, the rear legs of plainer form and terminating in pad feet, the seat loosely covered in yellow dotted green cotton over an earlier cream damask, horsehair stuffed.
