Summary
A mahogany library armchair, English, second half 18th century, the rectangular padded back with gently curved top rail, the padded armrest with downcurved foliate carved supports, upholstered with close-nailed green cotton weave, the backrest embroidered with flowers and leaves on green ground, the rear upholstered with brown cotton weave, the cabriole legs carved with shells and foliate motifs, with scrolled acanthus ears, terminating in scrolled feet.
