Summary
A mahogany library armchair, English, circa 1730-60, the padded rectangular back with curved top rail, supported by padded armrests with rosette terminals and foliate carved downcurved supports, the over-covered bow-front seat supported by cabriole legs carved with foliate motifs and with scrolled acanthus carved ears, terminating in paw feet on oval bases with recessed castors, re-upholstered in beige velour with matching trim.
Provenance
Date of acquisition by the National Trust unknown. Formerly located at the Brockhampton Estate and displayed at Clandon Park before being transferred to Hatchlands Park. First recorded at Hatchlands Park in the 1986 inventory.
