Summary
Stained glass window panel. A panel of stained glass, possibly by the Master of the Holy Kindred, showing St Catherine wearing a red robe with blue sleeves and a white lower skirt, a gold trimmed bodice and girdle and a pink, fur lined cloak, with a wheel and a sword. St Catherine is standing between two columns, with two partially visible leaded windows either side of her head and a jewelled band behind her, as well as the base of a section of rib vaulting .
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
Marks and inscriptions
In a cartouche near the bottom of the panel: THESE WINDOWS FROM WIMPOLE, CAMBS.,/ FORMERLY THE SEAT OF THE EARLS OF/ HARDWICK, WERE REMOVED AT CHANGE OF /OWNERSHIP IN 1901 & PURCHASED & HERE SET/ UP IN 1909 BY PHILIP YORKE.
