Summary
Coin. A British Liverpool halfpenny silver token. The obverse shows the starboard broadside view of a full-rigged ship under sail, crossed oak branches below an inscription LIVERPOOL HALFPENNY. The reverse shows the arms and crest of the city, (a shield with a Liverbird) with crossed branches of bulrush flags with an inscription DEUS NOBIS HAEC OTIA FECIT 1793. On the edge an inscription PAYABLE IN LONDON, LIVERPOOL OR BRISTOL.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
