Summary
Baby's chemise. A baby's linen chemise/shirt dated 1740 (circa). Fabric of undyed bleached linen plain weave. Trimmed at shoulder, needle lace insertion, 'Hollie-point' knotted buttonhole, includes three crowns; and at neck and sleeve edge linen bobbin lace 'Valenciennes'. Lace at shoulder, neck and sleeve. Hand sewn.
