Summary
Baby's chemise. One of five baby's linen chemises/shirts dated 1740 (circa). Fabric of undyed linen plain weave. Trimmed at shoulder, linen bobbin lace insertion; and at neck and sleeve edge linen bobbin lace 'Valenciennes'. Lace at shoulder, neck and sleeve, linen tape at sleeve seam. Hand sewn.

Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
