Summary
Helmet. A Denbighshire Rifle Volunteer helmet dated 1925 (circa). Fabric of black wool raised nap, stretched over metal and trimmed with a silver metal spike and an embossed silver metal badge with the wording '1st A.B. DENBIGHSHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS'; and with silver metal embossed roses to secure a strap. The strap is of brown velvet with a metal chain; with metal edging at the front and leather at the back. It is lined with green leather and beige leather, undyed cotton twill weave and cream silk petersham ribbon. Label 'CHAS PRATER and Co. 16 Bedford Street Covent Garden London'.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
