Summary
Oil painting on canvas. Painting of Simon Yorke IV (1903-1966) by Jacqueline D. Geldart (b. 1942), signed and dated, bottom right: J. D. Geldart./ 1977. A half-length portrait, facing, in dark blue dress as High Sheriff, holding a ?tricorn cap in right hand, and a sword hilt at his left. Painted from a photograph taken in 1936 and when the artist only had the use of one eye.
Provenance
Commissioned in 1977; given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust.
