Summary
A trumpet, one of two, made in England, possibly France, second half of 19th century. Stamped on the flare behind the bell, "Denbighshire Flints and Montgomerys Sheriffs Association". Intended for band rather than orchestral use, the seating for the music clip survives. Usual, (from around 1830), 3 valve design. No tuning slide. Tubing dented and conical flare crushed.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
