Summary
Pastel on paper, Simon Yorke II (1771-1834) and his sister Etheldred Yorke (1772-1796), as children, with a dog by Katherine Read (Dundee 1723 – at sea 1779). Framed as upright oval. Portraits of two children, the elder with his arm around the other's shoulder, a dog between them. The dog's collar insc. 'S.YORKE', three quarter length.

Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973
Marks and inscriptions
Verso: Frame bears label of Thomas Fentham, frame maker and grinder of London, who probably carved the stands. Recto: Inscribed on dog's collar: S. YORKE
