Summary
Biscuit box. A tin-plated rectangular box with a close-fitting lid, marked on the base with 'MacFarlane, Lang and Co Ltd. Glasgow and London' and embossed with the word 'SAMPLE'. The lid is printed with a copy of a painting, marked 'MRS SIDDONS by Gainsborough'. The box was made to hold chocolates/biscuits.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
