Summary
A joined oak short form or long stool, English, mid-17th century, with later replacements and strengthening timbers. The single plank pegged top above friezes covered by later boards, raised on four block and baluster-turned legs on high block feet with later spliced replacements joined by an 'H'-shaped stretcher. The end stretchers original, the central stretcher replaced.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
