Summary
A joined oak form or long stool, English, mid-17th century, one of a pair, with some later strengthening timbers and iron braces. The single plank (re-)pegged top above friezes with moulded bottom edges, raised on four block and baluster-turned legs on block feet joined by an 'H'-shaped stretcher. -- It is rare for forms of this type to survive in pairs.

Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
