Summary
A softwood commode seat, part of a mahogany commode seat, English, early 19th century, a very near pair to [NT 1147355]. The softwood seat of a mahogany commode, with mahogany lip. The commode seat with a serpentine-fronted hinged shelf to the backboard. The open arms straight and on turned and ring-turned supports either side of a seat with hinged flap. Concealing a softwood board pierced to accommodate a chamber pot, and fitted with a removable softwood cover. The legs square-section and with internal chamfer.
