Summary
An oak bureau bookcase, English, circa 1720, the upper doors probably originally fitted with mirror plates and candle-slides, and with bun feet, so with modifications. The moulded cornice above a pair of fielded paneled doors fitted with later turned knob handles and brass escutcheons. Enclosing three shelves above five short oak drawers. The bureau fitted with a cleated slope with applied double bead and book-rest and enclosing drawers around a central fielded panelled cupboard door, and fitted with a well with sliding cover. With two short and two graduated long drawers, all with brass fittings and inside an applied double carcass bead. Raised on later bracket feet.
