Summary
A dressing table, English, circa 1870, part of a good quality near set of figured walnut bedroom furniture comprising a wardrobe [NT 1147153.1]; a washstand [NT 1147153.3] and a chest of drawers [NT 1147153.4.]. Of figured walnut, and with ebonized mouldings. Topped by a swing toilet mirror on a pair of carved walnut supports, each raised on a small bank of two short drawers. The top of the table of grey-veined white marble, above three frieze drawers and a pair of pedestals of three graduated short drawers, raised on a plinth. The drawers edged with ebonized mouldings and with brass thread escutcheons. The brass mirror clasps stamped 'COPE & AUSTIN PATENT'.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
